What is IOP?

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (also known as IOP for “Intensive Outpatient Program”) is a primary treatment program recommended in some circumstances by a clinical assessment. IOP may be recommended for those who do not need around the clock care that an inpatient or residential facility provides. IOP can also enable people to continue their treatment following successful completion of a residential program on a part-time yet intensive schedule, designed to accommodate work and family life.

With the Intensive Outpatient Treatment program, patients are able to establish a foundation for long term recovery support in their local community right from the start of treatment.  IOP also helps with the transition home from living away in a residential center.
