Alyssa moved from the Texas coast to San Antonio, where she received both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
and Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio (Go Runners!).
In
college, she found her passion for helping those who suffer from Eating Disorders. She recognized the struggle
with disordered eating patterns and body image issues, many of which were within her circle of friends. Alyssa
has worked with several diverse populations, including Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, in which she provided
community case management support.
She has extensive experience leading groups and working with
individuals who present with personality disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, trauma,
substance abuse, and body image issues.
Additionally, she has worked at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center
facilitating groups in the adolescent day program, Formative Years. Alyssa has experience with Eating Disorders
across the field, including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, and ARFID, through her time as a Primary
Therapist at the Eating Recovery Center in San Antonio. Alyssa believes in family healing power in the recovery
process and is trained in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and Family-Based Treatment.
By incorporating
various treatment modalities, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and holistic approaches in her practice, Alyssa makes sure to individualize her
clientsʼ needs in therapy.
In her free time, she spends time with her very energetic 6-year-old,
goes hiking with her Golden Retriever, Nala, whips up new recipes for her husband, enjoys traveling, and making
memories with family and friends.
