Mr. Sanderson is a native of Texas and pursued his education at the
University of Missouri (Mizzou) where he earned dual Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and English. During
his time at Mizzou, he worked with the Mizzou football team as an assistant to the offensive coordinator.
Upon graduation, Mr. Sanderson went on to coach high school football both in Texas and in Missouri where
his teams broke numerous offensive records. Fueled by his passion for mental health and the human psyche, he
went on to earn his Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University where he worked with clients who are
survivors of domestic abuse. Mr. Sanderson later worked as the School Support and Education Coordinator with a
non-profit childrenʼs bereavement center in St. Louis. Here he went to schools providing therapy and was
active in the schools around Ferguson, Missouri during the unrest in 2014.
Mr. Sanderson moved to
Colorado where he worked at a dual-diagnosis residential treatment center as the assistant clinical director.
His combined experience led him to join Dr. Howard and become the Managing Director of Innova Recovery. Mr.
Sanderson has helped grow Innova Recovery into one of the leading trauma-based facilities in the United States.
Mr. Sanderson's career has focused on trauma, domestic abuse, children's bereavement,
substance abuse with teens, self-mutilating behaviors, and more. He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization
and Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Existential
Therapy.
Mr. Sanderson enjoys spending time outside with hikes and runs through the hill country. He is
an avid football fan rooting for the Denver Broncos, Mizzou Tigers, and Texas A&M. He and his wife have been
blessed with an amazing son and two wonderful puppies.
