Healing Trauma For Better Tomorrows

Innova Recovery offers many excellent trauma therapies that can help you on your journey to recovery. We’ll help you heal and grow beyond the pains of your trauma.

What is Trauma Therapy?

Also known as trauma-informed care, Trauma Therapy is a type of therapy that seeks to help patients cope with their emotional responses created by a traumatic event. The goal is to eliminate, or at least reduce, the effects of trauma.

To accomplish this goal, trauma therapy will provide patients with a safe place to revisit the past but at their own pace. Our well-trained therapists will always make sure patients are prepared and properly equipped with the right skills before looking back to the back.

How Does Trauma Therapy Help Us?

Trauma therapy aims to help a patient explore and process the emotions they feel for a traumatizing event so that they can remove some of their burdens as they live their lives. In addition to this are the following:

  • Trauma can twist the way a person sees themselves, the people around them, and the world. Trauma therapy can help undo these twists and correct any misconceptions that developed during the traumatizing event.
  • Try as they might, some patients find their thoughts wandering to a traumatizing event, creating fear and anxiety from within. Patients can learn coping skills in trauma therapy, so they can look back at their traumatizing event without fear.
  • Trauma therapy is a great opportunity for patients to tackle specific emotions or symptoms connected to their mental health. These include feelings of depression, anxiety, fears, PTSD, and uncertainties.

Types of Trauma Therapy We Offer

Innova Recovery offers three types of trauma therapy. These are: Cognitive Processing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a trauma therapy for people who think or have disruptive thoughts and feelings after going through a traumatic event. CPT seeks to change how a person sees the world, going from ‘the world is not safe for me’ to ‘the world is a safe place.’

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Trauma can negatively affect how a person thinks and feels, making it hard for them to move on whenever they try. DBT seeks to create inner balance by finding a way to combine the acceptance of painful emotions with the desire to become a better person.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a non-talk trauma therapy that does not ask the patient to go into detail about their traumatic experience. EMDR helps patients deal with the persistent negative emotions they feel when the traumatic event comes to mind by making them positive.
